About the Artist
I have always had a keen interest in nature and living in the countryside has allowed me to get much closer to wildlife. This is where I find most of my ideas and images for my paintings.
The colours and beauty of nature are affected by the seasons, weather and atmosphere giving subtle colours or dramatic lighting. I try to find those magical moments that can be found in nature that can only appear fleetingly with the right light and atmospheric conditions.
Watercolour is my favourite medium, as it enables me to capture the delicate colours in the subtle backgrounds. Trying to capture these images in watercolour can be very challenging but also very rewarding. I use Gouache to paint the fine details on the main subject.
My favourite subjects are the familiar birds and butterflies that visit our gardens and surrounding countryside. Many of my paintings are detailed studies – snippets of nature.
I am a member of local art groups and exhibit my work regularly in local and national
exhibitions. -
I also have an unique website that features paintings of some of the British butterflies. These butterflies are featured in their natural habitat which is very important to their survival. My website is an opportunity for anyone who is interested in butterflies to view and to buy ‘Limited Edition’ prints of my paintings. Please visit ‘Butterfly Corner’ at www.butterflypaintings.co.uk
I am a member of Butterfly Conservation.
I am always willing to consider special commissions, please telephone to discuss your ideas on 01829 250939.
