All paintings come in a standard cream mount, which will fit into standard frames.

A minimum non-returnable deposit of 50% is required with your order. The balance is due on completion of the portrait. I usually have a waiting list of approx 1-2 months depending upon the time of year.

If you have a special deadline, such as forthcoming birthday, anniversary or Christmas please phone me 01829-250939 to discuss, as I may be able to accommodate. Don’t forget to allow time for posting and arranging to have the painting framed.

Photographing your dog

When taking your photographs try to capture the character of your dog in a pose that you like. (I find that a pose slightly to the side rather than completely facing you is better) The photos will need to be taken in good natural daylight, avoiding very bright sunlight, as you will need to capture their natural colouring.

It is important that you take the photos at eye level. (Some of my most successful have been in the back/boot of the car, as long as the light is good enough.)

I can work from a number of photographs e.g. one in your favourite pose and others showing the correct colouring and details of eyes and any special features.

If you are sending digital images to me via e-mail, please make sure they are of the highest resolution and attach 2 photographs per email

If you have lost your dog and only have a few existing photographs, I will try to work from these. If they are the only copies you have, please make a spare copy before sending them to me.

If you would prefer to travel to me in south Cheshire. I can take the photographs as well as meet you and your dog.   If you require me to travel to you, there will be a charge for travelling expenses.

Some people prefer to have professional photographs taken, in which case you will need to ask the photographer for copyright permission before you send them to me.

All your photographs will be carefully looked after and returned safely to you with your finished portrait.

Placing an order

If you would like to place an order for a dog portrait, I will require your name, address, phone number and email address, some dog photos, dogs name and breed and any important date that painting is required by.

You can contact me by email juliedhorner@aol.com or phone me 01829-250939 or write to me at Mrs Julie Horner, Hawksview Cottage, Church Road, Tilston, Malpas, Cheshire SY14 7HB

If you know someone who would be interested but does not have access to a computer, I can also send written details in the post.

Postage and Packing

All work is sent to the UK by Special Delivery, which offers a next day service including compensation for delay, loss or damage. Prices range from £5 -£10 depending upon size of the finished painting.

Finished work

When I have completed your painting, I will telephone/email you to let you know. I can email you a scan of the finished painting so you can view it. Some like to do this, while others like to wait for the finished article to arrive.  I will then request the balance of payment. Once payment has been received I will send your portrait to you and return all your photographs. All portraits remain the property of Julie Horner until paid for in full.

If you wish to collect your portrait we can make suitable arrangements and you may pay me in person by cash.

I offer a no quibble money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with your portrait within 14 days of receiving it. Please return the artwork.

Gift Vouchers

If you are running out of time to commission a portrait for a particular date, you may like to consider purchasing  Gift Vouchers instead.  Gift vouchers will need to be paid for in full at the time of purchase. This would allow the recipient to order the pet portrait when they choose. You can buy gift vouchers at the bottom of this page, simply select the appropriate combination for the painting of your choice.

Customer Comments

I would be pleased to hear from you once you have received your painting and would be most grateful for any feedback. Most of my commissions from my website come from recommendations from customers who have recommended me to relatives and friends or from people who have admired the finished artwork.
