Cheshire artist Julie Horner has been announced as the winner of an international art competition. The competition, “Wildscape Wildlife Artist of the Year 2008” is held annually by the Wildscape magazine which features wildlife art and artists.

Julie’s watercolour painting ‘Mr Toad’ has won the Amateur Category of the Editor’s selection - the editor’s selection is chosen from Wildscape subscribers.


It is a truly international competition with winners  this year from Australia, USA and the UK.


Julie has never entered any of her paintings in a competition before, so was surprised and delighted to find she had won.

One of Julie’s butterfly paintings was recently chosen for the cover of the spring 2008 edition of Natur Cymru - Welsh wildlife magazine

I have been approached by Artists & Illustrators (A&I) the best selling magazine for professional artists and aspiring amateurs They are featuring one of my butterfly paintings in an article on wildlife.

They have chosen 'Silver Studded Blues' a Heathland butterfly from my Blues Collection.The article will be in the April 2009 edition which comes out on the 6th March.

Cheshire artist Julie Horner has launched a web portal devoted to her watercolour paintings of butterflies. Butterfly Corner is an unique website that features paintings of some of the British butterflies in their own surroundings. The butterflies are featured in their natural habitat, which is very important to their survival.
